Violin and Viola Lessons
with Adie Muller
How do lessons work?
Each student meets with me once per week, at a consistent, designated day/time, for a duration of an hour each (or 30 min for certain students), and I provide a fun and educational experience to improve the student’s performance fundamentals through learning fun music!
I work with students of all ages (7+) and customize the lesson experience to your own unique interests, skills, and goals.
No experience necessary; everybody can learn music!
To get started, send me an email so we can schedule a free, in-person introductory lesson to get to know one another and discuss the student’s goals and interests.
Full details can be found in the FAQ section (such as location and pricing).
What do you want from music lessons?
-
Weekly One-on-one Instruction
Each student receives weekly individual sessions of one hour in duration (or 30 minutes for beginners and young students). We work together during lessons to hone the student’s musical skills through technique, creativity, teamwork, and performance skills.
At the end of each lesson, students are given an assignment to practice their instrument on their own during the rest of the week in between lesson days.
-
Games and Incentives
Students earn physical prizes “badges” for achieving exceptional accomplishments: from ranking up through our 11 “Mastery Levels,” by learning an entire book of music or set of scales, and even just for signing up for lessons and getting started.
We also put on studio-wide contests, games, and social opportunities among students and their families, including a monthly newsletter.
-
Yearly Recitals and Performances
At least once a year (usually December and/or May), all students perform in our all-studio recital. Every student is encouraged to play a piece they enjoy, demonstrating their skills and hard work, to be enjoyed by their friends and family, and inspire feelings accomplishment and confidence!
At the end of every recital, we also put on a reception with food and snacks, full of smiles on students’ faces, and the pride of their families!

Potential students (or their parents) will be provided with my full lesson policies which must be signed before the their second lesson.
A few of our policies include:
No-shows and Cancellations made within one hour incur the full price of the missed lesson; 3 no-shows warrants dismissal from studio.
Payments must be made on the first lesson of each month for the coming month, based on the anticipated number of lessons.
Students aged under 13 must have a parent or guardian present at each lesson.
Make-up lessons can usually be scheduled but are dependent on my schedule.
I reserve the right to accept or dismiss students based on behavior and effort.
-
I work with violin and viola students at all ability levels: from the beginning child’s very first experience with a new instrument, to advanced career-track high school violists, as well as adult students of all ages and playing levels!
The minimum age for lessons is 7 years old (or approaching - ask me).
As a professional violist, I will defer career-track violin students (beginning at the level of Mozart Concertos) instead to a professional violinist.
-
No commitment is needed for the very first lesson; after that, each month will begin with a confirmation of the month’s schedule, and a payment for that month’s anticipated number of lessons.
Lessons are available in one-hour durations, and in certain cases 30-minutes (for example, young children).
Lesson days/times must be consistent every week.
Missed lessons (cancelled with plenty of notice) will be refunded or the payment rolled over to the following month.
I do not offer the option to plan lessons as only every-other week.
I do not offer group lessons (except in addition to a student’s regular lesson time).
I do not offer online-only lessons at this time.
For more scheduling questions, please ask me via email or the Contact Form.

I highly encourage adult students to consider lessons with me!
Working with adult students is different from working with kids: our standards and expectations are higher; but, we have more responsibilities in life to interfere with maintaining a consistent practice schedule.
Adult students and I typically focus more on playing and having fun with music, as opposed to rigorous technique and fundamentals. The curriculum is less standardized compared to working with children, so we can tailor the process around your specific goals and interests!
-
I always offer the first lesson for free!
At our first lesson, I will meet with the potential student (and their parent(s), for kids) to:
Discuss your goals, interests (musical and otherwise), and learn about your past musical experiences and hopes to achieve from lessons
Communicate my requirements and let you know what you can expect from me.
Generally, get to know whether the student and I would be a good fit to pursue weekly violin or viola lessons.
I will also examine the student’s instrument at this first meeting.
Optionally, I would love to hear the student play something for me, or show me previous music they have worked on.
If you’re interested, please email me to ask me any questions you may have, and then let’s schedule your introductory meeting!
Please contact me by sending me an email or by filling out the Contact Form.
Reviews from Previous Students
"Adie has been such a pleasure! And to be able to keep a 6 year old focused is a challenge but she does an AMAZING job! I am so glad we were recommended and will happily recommend ANYONE wanting to learn violin or viola go to Adie! Thank you so much for the time and effort you put in with each child and detailed emails/communication!!!"

"Adie has by far been the best violin teacher our daughter has had. She not only exemplifies a love for learning, which in and of itself is crucial to any subject, but genuinely cares to bring each student to their next best level in playing. She engages and inspires. If I could place her teaching style in a quote: 'Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn.' - Benjamin Franklin"

"Adie is so dedicated to what she does I wouldn't change anything. My daughter learned so much from her not only about music but to be committed, love and give her all to what she does. My daughter just adore her she just great. Thank you Adie for everything you've done for Michelle!"
- Jesu P. (2015; via Thumbtack)
"Ms. Adie was a great tutor. She was patient with her explanations, asked what songs my daughter wanted to learn, and incorporated those into her lessons. Ms. Adie was able to keep my daughter interested in learning when her school program was progressing at a slower pace."
- Amelia K. (2024)
"Adie is very dedicated to her students and making sure they have the most amount of resources, answers, and help they can receive either in a lesson or even outside of it. She is well-knowledgeable and has several different resources (including a YouTube channel) that can aid any student in their playing."
- Lauren B. (2020, via Lessons.com)
"Adie was our daughter's first violin lesson and she proved to be exceptionally patient in this situation. Her style is relaxed, not rigid, and provides for a calm and safe environment for learning while also providing substantial challenges for the student. She was also flexible enough to take on a little Irish folk piece we brought in that we wanted to learn. Adie's a great child instructor!"
- John S. (2018; via Thumbtack)
"Adie is a phenomenal teacher. She is patient, encouraging, and makes learning fun while keeping the lesson structured. You can tell she loves teaching and takes her career seriously. My daughter learned so much her first year, I was so impressed. She also has very clear communication about her policies and expectations and answered any of my questions quickly."
- Jayne K. (2024)
"I enjoyed my lessons with Adie. As an adult student that had been a violin student as a child, I needed a teacher that could help me remember what I had forgotten, and teach me new techniques so that I could improve. Her patience with me was comforting and the encouragement I received was priceless. I will miss her!
I highly recommend her to any adult student."

"Adie is a great teacher. She is very encouraging and a lot of fun to work with. My son made much faster progress than I had thought he would."
- Ronda C. (2018; via Thumbtack)
"Adie was an incredible teacher and mentor to our son, Noah. We watched him grow so much in his confidence and abilities as Violist. She helped him with his audition to get into a performing arts program for high school and he was accepted. We are so thankful for her willingness to go above and beyond to help Noah succeed. We will sorely miss her. We would highly recommend her to any student wanting to learn and grow as a musician."
- Josh & Elly R. (2024)
"Adie is fantastic to work with. Our daughter is progressing quite nicely in her violin skills where she wasn't progressing much when we were at Allegro. Equally important, our daughter really enjoys interacting with Adie and looks forward to each lesson. I will be highly recommending Adie to others."
- Matthew H. (2019; via Thumbtack)
"Adie was wonderful. She was always on time, ready to go with a positive attitude and a smile. She was very accomodating and willing to help Alex when he was unsure of something. The only thing I would have wanted is more time for Alex to learn from her :)"
- Lili P. (2017; via Thumbtack)
"Adie has been a wonderful teacher for my grand daughter. Adie is kind, skilled and keenly aware of her students needs and progress. Wish we could have continued with Adie indefinitely. Highly recommend Adie as performer and instructor."
